Eduardo D'Alessandro

Eduardo D'Alessandro

Co-head of Investment Teams, Europe & Partner

Mr. D’Alessandro joined Castlelake in 2011 and is co-head of the non-aviation investment teams. He became a partner of the firm in 2018. Mr. D’Alessandro is also a voting member of the firm’s Investment Review Committee. Previously, Mr. D’Alessandro led the firm’s investment approach to Spanish land banking and was also responsible for its strategy in Portugal, Italy and Greece, the United Kingdom and Ireland. His expertise includes direct asset and non-performing loan opportunities in Germany and Eastern Europe, as well as equity public offerings.

Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. D’Alessandro was an investment consultant at Deutsche Bank in their special situations group, focusing on non-performing loan investments across Europe. Prior to Deutsche Bank, Mr. D’Alessandro was an investment associate at CVI within the Loan Portfolio Group. At CVI, he worked on non-performing loan and real estate investments in the United Kingdom, Germany and Spain. Mr. D’Alessandro received his M.B.A. from the London Business School and received his B.Sc. in finance from Manhattanville College, cum laude. Mr. D’Alessandro is a native Spanish speaker.

Matt Little

Matt Little

Co-head of Investment Teams, North America & Partner

Mr. Little joined Castlelake in 2015 and is co-head of the non-aviation investment teams, managing investment activities across the non-aviation investing verticals. He became a partner of the firm in 2017. While at Castlelake, Mr. Little has led the Specialty Finance business, Capital Markets team and completed many noteworthy transactions, including multiple aircraft securitizations, equity sales, and strategic initiatives, including public offerings of equity and debt.

Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Little served as co-head of transportation financing within the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in New York. There, he worked with many of the world’s largest specialty finance companies, global industrial conglomerates and major financial institutions on strategic initiatives, such as divestitures, acquisitions, general corporate advisory, and raising debt and equity capital. Mr. Little began his career in the Financial Institutions Group within investment banking at Goldman Sachs. He received a B.A. in politics from Princeton University and a certificate in political theory.

Dax Atkinson

Dax Atkinson

Managing Director, Special Situations

Mr. Atkinson joined Castlelake in 2016 and is part of the Special Situations team, focused on sourcing, analyzing and executing corporate distressed investment opportunities. Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Atkinson was a director at CVI where he specialized in public and private distressed investing. Prior to CVI, Mr. Atkinson was a senior analyst at Deephaven where he focused on long and capital structure arbitrage trades. Prior to Deephaven, Mr. Atkinson was an investment banking associate in Piper Jaffray’s Financial Institutions Group. Mr. Atkinson received a B.S. in finance from Iowa State University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Emre Erşenkal

Managing Director, Special Situations

Mr. Erşenkal joined Castlelake in 2018 and is part of the Special Situations team, focused on power and energy infrastructure investments in emerging, developing, and developed markets. Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Erşenkal led M&A for Vientos Services LLC, a growth markets focused power generation business. Prior to Vientos, Mr. Erşenkal was a senior vice president at Beowulf Energy – a private investor, developer and operator of power and energy infrastructure assets based in New York – where he focused on acquisitions and development. Earlier in his career, Mr. Erşenkal worked at DAI, an international development consulting firm, as a project manager of post-conflict recovery programs in sub-Saharan Africa and southeast Asia. He started his career as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia. He received his M.B.A. from the Wharton School, at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in engineering from the University of Hartford, summa cum laude. Mr. Erşenkal is conversational in Turkish.

Evan Tornell

Managing Director, Special Situations

Mr. Tornell joined Castlelake in 2010 and is part of the Special Situations team, focused on sourcing, executing and managing global investments across several asset classes. Mr. Tornell has served in a number of roles during his tenure at Castlelake including Head Trader, as well as positions on the firm’s Capital Formation and Aviation Investing teams. Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Tornell worked in equity research at Piper Jaffray where he was responsible for forecasting financial performance of covered companies, developing investment ratings and advising institutional investors on equity investments. Mr. Tornell received a B.A. from the University of St. Thomas in financial management, magna cum laude. Mr. Tornell is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.

Pedro Costa

Director, Special Situations

Mr. Costa joined Castlelake in 2019 and is part of the Special Situations team, focused on global power and energy infrastructure investments. Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Costa led M&A for Vientos Energy, a growth markets-focused power generation business. Prior to Vientos, Mr. Costa held energy-finance positions with Orazul Energy, Casa dos Ventos, Itau BBA and Wood Mackenzie. He received his B.A. in business management from the University of Campinas – UNICAMP, Brazil, summa cum laude, and attended energy-finance, pre-MBA and corporate law programs at the University of Texas at Austin, Yale University and FGV-law, respectively. Mr. Costa is fluent in Portuguese and Spanish, as well as conversational in French.

Ricardo De Armas

Director, Special Situations

Mr. De Armas joined Castlelake in 2016 as part of the Special Situations team, focused on investments in the emerging markets. Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. De Armas held a senior investment role at an opportunistic family office, where he focused on deep value investments, restructuring and financial advisory. Prior to that, Mr. De Armas was a principal at a private investment firm, where he focused on special situations investments in emerging markets. Earlier in his career, Mr. De Armas was an associate with Citigroup in the Latin American investment banking group in New York, where he advised companies in a wide range of industry sectors on financial and strategic matters and a financial analyst and cost manager at Procter & Gamble in Caracas, Venezuela. Mr. De Armas received his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and a B.S. from Universidad Metropolitana in business administration. Mr. De Armas is a native Spanish speaker.
