Richard Barnett

Mr. Barnett joined Castlelake in 2017 and is Partner, Capital Formation. In this role, he co-leads the firm’s fundraising strategy and team, with a focus on advancing strategic partnerships across Castlelake’s investment vehicles and solutions and supporting product development.  

Mr. Barnett became a partner of the firm in 2021 and is a member of its Executive Committee and Investment Review Committee. During his tenure at Castlelake, he has played a senior leadership role across distribution, product development and capital markets, including previously serving as Head of Capital Markets, where he was responsible for raising debt capital across the firm’s investment strategies and originating new investment opportunities.

Prior to joining Castlelake, Mr. Barnett was with the Structured Finance group at Deutsche Bank, where he ran syndication for asset-backed securitizations, collateralized loan obligations and Deutsche Bank’s private lending business. Earlier in his career, he held similar positions at Goldman Sachs & Co. and Lehman Brothers.

Mr. Barnett received his B.A. in business administration from Loyola University New Orleans in economics and finance.
